We all are the pure, blissful consciousness that is pervading this universe. This consciousness is nothing but God. Due to maya, or ignorance we have forgotten our true nature and continue to wrongfully identify ourselves with our thoughts and body. Since we identify ourselves with something that is not our true Self we always remain unhappy, and are in constant search of real happiness.

Meditation and the repetition of God’s name help us to cleanse our mind and body from impurities, which ultimately can lead us to realize our Self. The grace of a self-realized master, along with your own spiritual practices will allow you to see who you really are.

This bhajan elucidates the fact that the pure Self, or atman is indestructible, and it has the same radiance and luster of the stars and sun that exist in nature. Therefore instead of wandering outside, roam in the inner world that lies within you.

Jise shastra kaate, na agni jalaye

Listen to this psalm and fill your heart with eternal bliss, happiness and joy. In these verses-

“Main Dwaare Tere Aayee, aa ke jholi failai,
Tu de de data jo chahe…………..”

A devotee surrenders himself to the almighty and says – Dear lord! I have come to your door to worship you and to get your blessings. My love towards you is pure and pious. I love you unconditionally.

To rejoice these feelings of a devotee, sing aloud with Anandmurti Gurumaa! A devotee says to the almighty, I don’t wish fulfillment of my worldly desires from you. Neither joys nor sorrows I wish from you. You give me whatever you think deems fit for me.

Each and everything belongs to you, so I thank you for everything you have given me. I offer you all what is already yours. It’s only the salutation, which I can offer you. Being compassionate and bounteous please bless me, so that I can dive deeper and deeper to know my real self.

In this hymn, Anandmurti Gurumaa sings joyously the feelings of a devotee towards the Lord. Sing aloud with the Master to have an exhilarating experience!

In the praise of the almighty, the devotee says – Oh Lord! You are so compassionate, merciful, benignant, gracious, bounteous and tender.

Being your children, we beseech you to please keep us in your lotus feet always. We pray you please give us your love. Oh Lord! Only yours and mine relation is true in this World rest everything is just an illusion. Oh Lord! I beg your love. With your blessings, I wish to surrender to you, so that my heart and mind can resonate in peace.

The consciousness inherent in the body is the truth and has to be realized. The world is a dream. God is the only perfect person. This bhajan reveals that we are all imperfect and we have to strive to become perfect like him. We have to take the world as a drama and continue our spiritual practices.

We should not get deterred by what happens in the world and succumb to desires and cry at sorrow and laugh at joy. We have to maintain a balanced view. This is the way we need to live our lives, if we want to come closer to the puran purakh (omnipresent God) and strive ahead in our long journey to the realization of the absolute.

This realization will help us to pass through this voyage inherent with dangers without drowning and bring us to the safe harbor. The need of the hour is to wake up and realize this. Once we realize this, we will not waste our time in worldly pursuits and we will earnestly start following the path given by the Master.

Krishna means ‘dark’. It is also a term for ‘night’. Average human cognition generally perceives the Supreme Consciousness as the ‘dark’ of the unknown.

Concisely this theme can be understood as follows:

This phrase explains the stage of a devotee where he abandons himself completely to his beloved Lord, whom he calls “Thakur” – the Master of his life. And this emptiness fills every nook and cranny of his heart with tranquility and carefree ness, with no space for any inclination towards worldly desires.

Neither he gets exhilarated when someone expresses respect and gratitude towards him, nor he gets upset on being addressed in an insulting and offensive way. He remains quite stable and balanced within. No unfavorable circumstance can make him gloomy and no admiration can give him any pleasure.

Gurumaa’s soulful rendering of this unique composition rings in our ears long after the bhajan has ended. It touches a chord in our heart and makes us want to relinquish the tight grip of desire for momentary gratification, which is the root cause of suffering.

In Hindi language the term ‘Har’ signifies two meanings – one refers to the ‘Lord Shiva’ and the other to ‘all pervasiveness’. Om is the name given to that formless, omnipresent, omniscient God. So when we chant “Har Har Om”, we are in the deep remembrance of the God.

This bhajan reveals that a Yogi prefers to live in solitude. So he chooses to sit in the lap of nature, in deep forests where trees, lakes, birds and other creatures, all are his kith and kin. He plays, sings and frolics with them. He remains cheerful and indifferent towards his appearance. Yogi is as innocent as an infant. His eyes are filled with precious tears whenever he is in the remembrance of his God. His mind, his each and every breath acts as a bead of rosary. Thus his own body becomes a pilgrimage where God resides in his heart, mind and soul. What a beautiful composition!

This unique state is most evocatively captured by Anandmurti Gurumaa in this memorable bhajan. The brilliant lyrics and music transport even the casual listener into the yogi’s inner world and offer a taste of the carefree, blissful ecstasy in which the true yogi ever abides.

Each and every moment of his life thus becomes a celebration. He reaches to his destination with the grace of his Sadguru. Sadguru is the only one who steers and rows the boat of the disciple through the water of life, shielding from whirlpools, no back waters. This boatman propels the oars with expertise and enables a disciple to complete his voyage.

Sadguru dyes the soul of disciple in such a way that no artificial colors of offence and gratitude could ever affect him. He neither responds to any admiration, nor reacts to any insult and abuses. He becomes totally bondage free.

Such a person becomes like a flute through which a melodious music flows when somebody blows. His very own identity gets merged into his master’s persona. So only Guru sings, Guru says, Guru is the only doer.

Sant Brahmanand, a renowned sage, has hailed the greatness of Sadguru and sung it in these golden words……

“Jeewan da mainu anand aa gaya hai….
Mere ghar me shaahon ka shah aa gaya hai….

Mili mai di manzil mai lag gayi kinare,
Mai lag gayi kinare, mai sad balihaare,
Kinare lagavan malhaar aa gaya hai.

Brahmanand seja te mauja urava
Mauja urava, mai balihaari java
