The Mahishasuramardini stotra is a beautiful hymn that depicts the glory and greatness of the Supreme and Divine Mother. This stotra, composed in the Sanskrit language by Adi Sankaracharya is a condensed form of the great Hindu scripture Chandi Saptashati, which is also known as Devi Mahatmayam.

The great Adi Sankaracharya brought together all the important sound energies of the Chandi Saptashati into this beautiful hymn. These specific sound energies of the Sanskrit language have the ability to purify the spiritual centers located in our subtle bodies, and eradicate all our negativities and bondages.

While praising the Divine Mother we are not only extolling her greatness of killing the demons that existed many ages ago, but are asking her to eradicate the inner enemies such as anger, jealously, pride, excessive desires and ignorance that exist within us.

While we sing this beautiful hymn with Gurumaa we are praying to the Divine Mother to destroy these inner enemies so that we can experience our true, divine nature! Only then can we realize that the Divine Mother is nowhere else but within us!

Rudraksha’s are pure and pious beads associated with Lord shiva. Wearing them is considered to have great spiritual benefits. But should women wear rudraksha beads during their menstruation days? Or should they avoid wearing it during those days? Find out the answers in this Gurumaa video.

This question was put up to the realized mystic Anandmurti Gurumaa by one of her devotees. In reply to the question, Gurumaa says that what a woman must do or must not do is a personal choice. Many a misleading concepts and ideas have been floated by those who wish to suppress the power of a woman.

It is indeed a blessing upon mankind that a woman can give birth and be a mother. Thus the menstrual cycle in a woman’s life is a natural phenomenon that helps in creating a new life.

It has nothing to do with what one wears.

Gurumaa adds that rudraksha’s are pure and pious beads associated with Lord shiva. These bead hold great value and importance for those who believe in them. For others they are simply beads.

It has nothing to do with when and on what days one is wearing them but with how one feels.

If women wish to, then they should just go ahead and wear them any time and any day of the month.

How Can You Stop Parents from Aborting Their Female Child? – Words of Wisdom by Anandmurti Gurumaa on Stopping Female Feoticide

Female foeticide (bhruna hatya) is an extreme manifestation of violence against females. God created this world, but to grow and expand his creation, he created females. But, it is a matter of concern that the sex ratio is consistently declining.

Among Indians, a girl child is treated as a liability and is not even given a single chance to see this beautiful world. Sometimes, despite making the best efforts, it seems impossible to stop parents around us from aborting the girl child. What can be done in such circumstances? Find in this video, what Gurumaa suggests to do in such a situation.

One of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa that his ‘brother in law and his wife’ had recently found that the baby they are going to have is a girl and they want to abort it. Right now, they have only one 6 year old daughter.

The questioner wanted to convince them not to do this, but despite making many efforts he hasn’t been able to stop them. Both are in the USA and they do not want to have any relationship with him (questioner), as he strictly told them that what they are doing is murder and he cannot allow that. He further asks for Gurumaa’s guidance as to what he can do to stop them?

Gurumaa says in response to the question that he (questioner) has done a very correct thing. Even if they severe their relationship with him, he would be better off than to have a relationship with such cruel persons. Those persons who can mercilessly kill their baby, could definitely snap the life out of anyone.

Gurumaa further says that this is the sheer ignorance of Punjabis (North Indians), who consider themselves to be the most boisterous and prosperous people, but they are really paupers in their heads and that’s why, they are unashamed of even killing their own daughter.

Gurumaa says to the questioner that he has tried a lot to make them understand, but if they are still blocked in their heads, he cannot do anything. But the questioner should still keep on making more and more efforts. He can threaten to report them to the police, because any doctor who performs such abortion where the sex determination test is available, is liable for punishment. Moreover the hospital and parents involved in the act, can be penalized.

Gurumaa suggests the questioner not to be a coward person and continue his fight for that unborn girl. Gurumaa asks the listener to report back to her, as she would like to know more about the questioner and those people who want to abort their girl child.

May be where any get together or party is happening, the questioner may mention this and announce it so that other people come to know what a heinous crime they are committing. Such people should be debarred and should be forbidden to go into any Gurudwara or Temple. They should not be allowed to socialize, because a person who can be this cruel to one’s own unborn baby can be really cruel to other fellow beings too.

About Suno Suno Meri Aawaaz

Suno Suno Meri Aawaaz, the album, is much more than just a collection of five musical tracks. It is the call for change, woven with the mesmerizing thread of music, and expressed vividly to touch the hearts of one and all.

The album begins with the lively track Suno Suno Meri Aawaaz, celebrating womanhood, followed by Naari, the reverberating musical ode to the myriad roles that a woman plays in life.

As one rejoices in the celebrative mood of both the tracks, then comes her plea in Nikki Jahi Kali, the voice from the womb urging us not to kill her but give her a chance to live, to evolve, to be free.

After this poignant expression comes Navi Milegi Raah, a call to rise for every woman, for once she has realized her inner strength, new paths will blossom at her feet at every opportunity!

The true beauty of a woman lies within her grace, her confidence, and her strength, and once a woman has realized these qualities she will shine like a star, thus ends the album with Chamkungi Sitara Banke.

Each track is a mellifluous expression, carving the picture of her desire to live, love and be in the world.

Painting the shades of her relationships, the ways she enriches our life, this album is a call to make us realize that we need to change our perspective, our understanding and our treatment of women in life.

This album presents the soulful voice of the revered mystic master Anandmurti Gurumaa and a special track in the exhilarating voice of Palash Sen from the acclaimed rock band Euphoria.

About Shakti

As the name suggests, Shakti is a manifestation of the power that not only is the source of every being but also sustains the entire universe. Girl is a personification of this Shakti – the feminine energy.

But it is unfortunate to see the brutalities that are inflicted on her today. The project Shakti was born as a result of Anandmurti Gurumaa’s concern for the growing menace towards the girl child – female foeticide, the discriminatory treatment meted out to the girls, and the derogatory status of woman in various parts of the country.

The aim of the project is to empower girls to make them independent, self-reliant and confident individuals and to eradicate the menace of female foeticide.

About Gurumaa

The mystic with the mesmerizing voice, Anandmurti Gurumaa, is the inspiring source of this album and the driving force for the project Shakti. With the medium of her discourses, held around the world, Gurumaa has been encouraging women to realize their innate potential.

Her ardent words, condemning the widespread practice of female foeticide, not only shake the listeners but awaken them to understand the gravity of the situation.

Woman is not weak as she is conditioned to be and Gurumaa herself exemplifies this with her gracious presence.

In the words of Gurumaa, “Shakti means feminine energy and it is present in every cell of our body, in every atom of this cosmos. Man or woman- differences are at the level of body; in reality, we are macrocosmic consciousness. No one can function without this power. India worships this shakti as goddess Durga, Kali, Saraswati…every girl, woman is an embodiment of Durga and so is man. So, we are power – we are all shakti – let’s recognize this and celebrate our presence.”

Is Female Foeticide in Indian Rural Areas Justified? – Discover What the Master Has To Say!

Posted on: Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Why a girl should be given birth in rural areas – if she has nothing to do over there! Can female foeticide be justified in rural areas? This is what one of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa and what Master says about it…

Every girl is divine and has great potential hidden within her. She is just like a bud, which is waiting for an opportunity to bloom like a flower. Potentialities and abilities of a girl are not less than anyone in this World. It hardly matters, where she resides!

And if we talk especially about rural areas, we have to say – it is a myth that girls cannot work in rural areas or they have nothing to do over there! In rural areas, girls are working equivalent to or even more than boys. For the whole day, a girl goes out in fields to work and to earn.

And sometimes she earns even more than a boy. A boy’s job ends when he comes back home from fields, but a girl has to work from dawn to dusk, she has to do all her household works also. And if we compare, we will be astonished to observe that a girl works much more than boys in rural areas.

It is true that they don’t get opportunities to go and work in institutions. But we should also look at the other side of the coin that in rural areas freedom, options and jobs are limited not only for girls but this condition applies to boys too. So what the need of the hour is – to take initiative in this direction.

Gurumaa Ashram is working a lot to open the doors for these girls, as-

1. Scholarships are provided to the girls of rural areas who wish to go for higher education.
2. Vocational training is given to them.
3. Opportunities are provided to create careers for them by handicrafts and entrepreneurship, so that they can work even while sitting at their homes

Just talking about the miserable conditions of girls is not enough; rather we need to do something constructive. All the youngsters who have passion, who can spare time to serve can enroll themselves in a “Mystic Club” and become the volunteer to serve these girls.

Youngsters should use their divine power to evolve their personalities and then of others. Because you serve you become God. Try to be a giver not only a receiver. To know more about enrollment in this club just click here.

Anandmurti Gurumaa motivates women to fortify their energy and respect themselves as women. In order to not just confine her teachings to mere words, Gurumaa in her true crusader spirit, has launched the project “Shakti”- An initiative to empower the girl child.
