Lord Shiva is known to have three eyes. What is the mystery behind the third eye that Lord Shiva has? What is the third eye? Do we also have a third eye? If we have it, then what is the technique to awaken it? Discover the answers in this Gurumaa video.

The enlightened master Anandmurti Gurumaa says the Lord does not discriminate, and just like Lord Shiva we all possess a third eye! It cannot be seen with our physical eyes, and to visualize it we have to explore our inner world.

On the physical level the ajna chakra or third eye is related to the pituitary gland – the master gland that controls the functions of the endocrine system.

The ajna chakra is also one of the seven spiritual centers that are located in our subtle physical body. It is located slightly above the eyebrows, and is considered to be the most powerful center.

The chakras are also represented by a lotus, and each center has a specific amount of petals, and mantra associated with it. The ajna chakra has two white petals and the mantra for this center is the universal cosmic sound Aum.

Under the guidance of a spiritual master, meditation on the ajna chakra brings upon immense benefits to the seeker. It provides great mental insight and enhances intuition and sixth sense powers.

If this center is awakened, a person is able to destroy his past life karmas and can also obtain knowledge of the past, present and future.

Most importantly, the ajna chakra is the gate through which the consciousness can ascend to the seventh center, or sahasrara chakra. The experience of samadhi, or union with God can be experienced here.

Stimulation of the third eye can be accomplished by practices such as tratak (steady gazing), and certain forms of pranayama. While these techniques provide benefits such as improving memory and concentration, Gurumaa says the ultimate goal of such practices is to experience the power that lies within you!

All the vital energy we possess can be utilized in our spiritual journey instead of wasting it on sensual pleasures. As Gurumaa says we cannot be called humans if we don’t turn within and explore the vast powers that are dormant within us!

The chanting of the mantra “Om” has many spiritual benefits. So, what is the right way of chanting the mantra “Om”? How can one enter into a meditative state of mind? How to practice it in a guided meditation CD? Discover in this video, the right way of chanting pranav as guided by Anandmurti Gurumaa.

The mantra “Om” as Anandmurti Gurumaa has explained many times, is not associated only with the Hindu religion, but symbolizes the Omnipresent, Omnipotent Divinity. The mesmerizing syllable ‘Om’ is not a product of man’s imagination, it is ever present, all pervading and can be felt within a seeker whose mind is tranquil and free from all disturbances.

One of the seekers asked Anandmurti Gurumaa, “While in pranav dhyan (Om chanting meditation) when there is a music played in the second half of the meditation, can we continue chanting the mantra “Om” in our mind during that period?

Gurumaa guides the path of the seeker by throwing light on the fact, that at the stage when the music is being played, at that time you should be silent. You have done enough chanting of Pranav (Om) in the initial stages. At this time do not chant any mantra; it is the time to take a plunge from word to wordless ness.

Get Pranav meditation CD for the beginning stage and follow it to check out yourself where you are. It is available in both Hindi and English language now.

Past life regression might be something which one goes for once in a while. It helps one to know about his past by opening up the lid of subconscious mind.

But how can one be sure that the experiences of this therapy are true and not just the imagination of one’s mind? What is the right way of practicing past life regression therapy? Find out the answers in this Gurumaa video.

One of the seekers asked Anandmurti Gurumaa, “How does one know that the things that one sees in the past life regression therapy are experiences of the past lives? Those experiences may be just the modified memories of one’s present life. So how can one figure out which image is from his past life and which one is just an imagination from the present life?”

Gurumaa elucidates that the questioner seems to be pretty unhappy with the present life. That is the reason why he is running after the past and keeps thinking so much about the future. One should live the present moment fully with awareness, being vigilant and being conscious.

Regarding the visions which one has in the past life regression therapy, it is very much possible that they are the modified memories of this very present life. There is a great chance of being delusional at the time of regression.

There is a possibility of going into a dream like state in regression. There is also a possibility that one might open up the lid of the subconscious mind and from there one can gain the entry into the memories of past lives.

There are many people these days who claim that they can give this therapy and there are many who are eager to go into their past, but there is a certain preparation which the seeker should do before going into such therapies.

This training will definitely make them well equipped, such that they don’t end up watching their own modified present life memories in the name of past life regression therapy!

Many a times, the word ‘tantra‘ is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by some people. Especially, in the western countries, it is considered as just a ’sacred sex’ kind of practice. And there, they conduct classes on the basis of their own wrong perception about ‘tantra’.

But what does ‘tantra’ actually mean? What is the difference between ‘tantra’ and ‘tantric’? Find out the answers in this video and listen to the words of wisdom by Anandmurti Gurumaa.

One of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa that while seeking tantric mantras on internet, he saw many websites, but they all show ‘tantra’ as a sacred sex kind of practice. He wants to know about the differences between ‘tantric’ and ‘tantra’ from Gurumaa.

He also asks Gurumaa, that being a Muslim, can he chant some mantra for spiritual awakening? Or there are some bindings for him?

Gurumaa says that ‘tantra’ is not just “sacred sex”, as considered in the west. It is a wrong perception about ‘tantra’ in the western world. In fact, sex is just a very small part of tantra’ and not the whole ‘tantra’ itself; as many people think about it.

‘Tantra’ is a live worshiping measure in which body is not considered as filthy, as bag full of just bones and skin. On the contrary, the human body is considered to be as a temple of the divine.

One may call that divine as ‘Allah‘, ‘Rama’ or by any other name. It doesn’t make any difference as we may call water with hundred different names or in hundred different languages, but still water remains water.

The questioner, being a Muslim, shouldn’t disallow himself from practicing ‘tantra’. But, first and foremost, one really needs to understand what these practices are actually all about. Therefore, the questioner needs to be with someone who can guide him about it.

Gurumaa suggests the questioner to do the chanting of ‘Om’ mantra in the meanwhile. And also explains that ‘OM’ is something which has nothing to do to with the Hindu religion. Actually it is the three syllables, ‘Aa’, ‘O’, ‘Ma’, and the combination of these three syllables is the word ‘OM’.

It can be denoted as a symbol which signifies the existence – which is omniscient and omnipresent. Click here to know the way of doing ‘OM’ chanting (japa) by Gurumaa.

When one regularly practices meditation, yoga, pranayam and other spiritual practices, he/she experiences sensations in the base of spine and other chakras (subtle energy centers) in the body. What do these sensations signify? Is it Kundalini awakening (arising of subtle vital energy “prana”)? How should one go about it? Find out the answers in this Gurumaa video.

One of the devotees asked the enlightened master – Anandmurti Gurumaa, that she is experiencing some sensation in the eyebrow centre (third eye center), base of spine (muladhar chakra) and the crown of the head (brahmarandhra). And these sensations continue even while working.

She is not doing anything other than meditation, japa (chanting)and prayers (prarthana). She also says that she doesn’t know any yoga. Why do we feel such sensations in the body when we meditate? What are such experiences all about?

Gurumaa elucidates that the sensations in the head or base of the spine indicate that the energy flow in the body is working. It is always a good thing, when someone continues his/her spiritual practices.

The questioner shouldn’t think that she doesn’t know any yoga. Because even doing japa is yoga. Bhakti and devotion too are yoga. Yoga is not something which is just related to ‘ashtanga yoga’, where the asanas and pranayamas are involved.

Yoga means involvement (involving ourselves) and unity – “being one with”.

What to do when you experience stuck energy in nerves beginning to flow suddenly while meditating or practicing Yoga? How to balance this energy flow equally in the body? How to enhance our meditation and spiritual progress? Discover the answers in this Gurumaa video.

One of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa, “When I sit for meditation, or do ‘Yoga Nidra‘, I feel that the energy is stuck in the left side of the body.”

“At times I feel a shock wave traveling through my nerves, up till my finger tips. This occurs in the right side of the body. I felt a shock wave in my left side only once while doing Urja meditation (dynamic breathing meditation), it was not a strong one and faded quickly.”

“I am practicing Yoga asana and some Pranayam in the morning. What can be done to channelize the energy properly in both sides of my body? Are there any specific Asanas or practices for the same? Please guide.”

Gurumaa explicates that the psychic channels in our body are not visible. They can’t be seen even if we cut and open a body, as these ‘nadis’ are not the part of anatomy.

These channels need to be cleansed up, before going in to the deeper meditations. Otherwise, these impure channels don’t have the capacity to hold the rising energy in the body.

For example, if someone has 200 voltage capacity wires in the home. But due to certain defect, there is higher flow of current supply, say 300 or 400 voltage, then the wires will snap and catch fire.

Similarly, there are 72,000 ‘naadis’ (channels of energy flow) in our body and if these are not cleansed up properly, then there is every chance of energy getting stuck in the body.

As a solution, Gurumaa suggests the questioner to do ’surya namaskar’ and some other spinal bending ‘asanas’ like ‘triyak bhujang’ asana. The questioner should also do the ‘naadi shodhana’ pranayam, as much as possible.

The more one starts practicing these yogic techniques, the greater becomes the ability of a person to deal with the blockages of energy in the body. This can help a person to spread and channelize the energy flow equally in the entire body.

Deep breathing helps in keeping the mind calm, relaxed and concentrated. The deeper we breathe, the more relaxed we feel. It helps to go deeper into meditation. But can deep breathing alone help a person to see his/her previous birth? What are the advantages of deep breathing? Find out in this video, what the enlightened master – Anandmurti Gurumaa says about it.

One of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa that while meditation he takes only 2 breaths in a minute. What are the advantages of taking very deep breath as far as meditation is concerned? Can he see his past birth if he takes deep breath?

Gurumaa says that deep breathing gives many benefits to us. It gives concentration and attentiveness to us. These two things are very important in meditation. So, one needs these to go deeper into meditation.

The questioner meticulously needs these ingredients for deeper meditation.

It is good that the questioner takes only two breaths in a minute while meditation. That means, he has a good control on his breathing. The deeper a person breathes, higher is the level of concentration and attentiveness.

To deepen one’s breathing, one needs to practice elongating it; by working on the breath.

One may begin by initially lying straight with back on the floor; you keep right hand just beneath the rib cage and take a long breath and let it come out and do this practice everyday for 10 to 15 minutes.

Yoga Nidra means sleep with a trace of awareness. It is a state of mind in-between wakefulness and dream. In this technique, we make a resolve, which is like planting a seed in our subconscious mind. We repeat this resolve again towards the end, which is like irrigating the seed we have sown; sooner or later, this seed will sprout.

But can we change the resolve in Yoga Nidra again and again? Does this become an obstacle in the way of maturity of the old resolve taken by us? Find out the answers in this video.

One of the devotees asked the enlightened master – Anandmurti Gurumaa that, “Do I need to repeat the same Sankalpa (resolve made to the subconscious mind) every time when I do Yoga Nidra or should different Sankalpas be made in each Yoga Nidra session?”

“If I repeat the same Sankalpa , am I disturbing the maturation of the Sankalpa?”

Gurumaa explicates that the resolve in the ‘Yoga Nidra’ or yogic sleep should not be about a new car, house, job or a girlfriend. Rather, it should be a composite resolution related to the life of a person. For example, one may have the resolve of living a healthier and peaceful life. It may also be like “may I get enlightened in this very life”.

Many lusty and greedy people have this wrong perception that Yoga Nidra is a way to fulfill the small desires of the mind. It is not meant for the fulfillment of desires like – my girlfriend should call me in the evening. These small itsy-bitsy desires shouldn’t be part of the Yoga Nidra’s resolve.

Rather, it is meant to understand the real self, mind and to give you a chance to walk on the path of spirituality. Every other resolve may go in vein, but the resolve taken at the time of Yoga Nidra can never fail.

Are sexual urges and thoughts consuming you the whole day and night? Is there a way to achieve freedom from the sexual thoughts and live a blissful life? How to be free from the bondage of sex? Discover the answers in this Gurumaa video.

A 24 years old youngster asked Anandmurti Gurumaa that his mind is all the time thinking about sex and other nonsense things. He always tries to control such kind of bad thinking of the mind, but fails to do so.

What can he do to divert his mind from sex towards other positive things? He requests Gurumaa to guide him. In this video, the enlightened master – Anandmurti Gurumaa explains the whole process of sex and the ways to surpass the sexual urges.

Gurumaa says that sex is not a taboo. It is not something that needs to be condemned for. But rather, one needs to understand what sex and sexual urges are all about. And, it is only when we understand it; that we can learn the ways to surpass these urges of the mind.

She further adds that sex is not bad, but thinking about sex is bad. If a person day and night, all the time keeps on thinking about sex by visualizing or dreaming about it all the time, then it is nothing more than exhausting one’s own energy.

For example, when we feel thirsty, we drink water and when we feel hungry, we eat food. But we do not keep eating the food or drinking the water for the whole day. And if one does so, then he/she will definitely end up in a hospital.

One need not be revolting with the thoughts all the time. Rather, we should accept the fact, that sex is a natural phenomenon of the body; just like eating and drinking is a system of body given by nature.

If one observes it, one would find that these thoughts were not present in the head, say at the age of six, seven or eight. Perhaps, it is after entering into the teenage, such thoughts arise in the mind. This is due to the hormonal changes in the body that take place at the age of around 10 to 12 years.

Gurumaa further elucidates that sex is just a chemical process of the brain. It is a surprising fact that if certain kind of chemicals are injected in a person’s body, then that person would never feel excited, even if he sees a naked women!

Moreover, it is not our genitals, but our brain which is the biggest sex organ in our body! So, if someone learns to manage the brain, then one can easily surpass these sexual urges of the brain.

For achieving a balanced hormonal secretion and better control over the body, Gurumaa has suggested practicing Surya Namaskar yoga asana and half an hour of Pranayam everyday. There are many other effective Pranayam techniques suggested by Gurumaa, like Bhastrika Pranayam and kapalbhati.

The aim of Bhastrika pranayam is to keep the inhalation cycle equal to exhalation cycle and this process comprises of breathing deep inwards and long exhalation outwards with equal time intervals.

Whereas, in Kapalbhati pranayam the main stress is upon short and strong forceful exhalations; and the inhalation just happens naturally.

Do you ever feel sensations at the base of your spine during meditation? What do these sensations signify? Do they mean that the dormant “Kundalini” energy is rising and getting activated? How should one manage these sensations and achieve unhindered spiritual growth? Discover the answers in this Gurumaa video.

One of the devotees asked Anandmurti Gurumaa, “I have been doing meditation for last one year regularly before going to bed at night. Recently I have started feeling some sort of electric current passing through my body, especially in my spine.”

“During the sessions, I feel intense rays of heat which move in circles on my forehead. For the last few days the intensity of such currents and sensations has increased tremendously throughout the day. Though I am enjoying it but still there is some fear. Please guide me what exactly is happening?”

Gurumaa elucidates that he does not need to be scared of this new phenomenon. He should continue the meditation practice that he is currently doing. Along with it, he can practice the yogic breathing practice of ‘Nadi Shodhana’.

Nadi Shodhan Pranayama (Nadi Purifying Pranayama) helps to clear the psychic channels of a person. The word “Nadi” means the nerve channels. It refers to those energy pathways through which the vital prana energy flows. “Shodhana” means an act of cleansing.

In the video, Gurumaa explains the the procedure of doing ‘Nadi Shodhan’ pranayama -

1) Sit straight with an erect spine and close the eyes.

2) Using the hand mudra, close your right nostril with the right thumb.

3) Then start inhaling gently and slowly through the left nostril.

4) Take deep, long and smooth in-breaths and hold it for few seconds.

5) Then close the left nostril and breathe out gently and deeply through right nostril.

6) Now repeat the same process through right nostril.

This would be one cycle. One should do at least 20 cycles every morning.

But there are some precautions too, that need to be taken while doing it. For those who are suffering from cardiovascular diseases or have high blood pressure, they should strictly avoid holding the breath.

They should simply continue to inhale and exhale through the alternate nostrils. They should not hold the breath at any point of time during practicing “Nadi Shodhana” pranayam.

Nadi Shodhana helps to prepare and unclog the psychic channels. By its regular practice, all these experiences of the heat, sensations in the forehead, etc would be more enjoyable and there will be nothing to be alarmed at.
